Earth Day - April 22
  • student book swap
  • culmination of 3rd grade Earth Pals project with brother library in Maryland
  • catered lunch in the library for all middle school students who read at least 5 from the list
  • students will vote on their favorite 
  • votes submitted to state committee to choose winning book for 2013
  • next year's list will be shared
  • catered lunch in the library for all high school students who read at least 5 from the list
  • prizes and giveaways
  • votes/ratings tallied from our school and submitted to state committee
  • introduction of next year's list


I'll also get the opportunity at the end of the month and for the month of May to teach elementary library classes on Thursdays for 4th grade, 1st grade, 2nd grade, and Kindergarten classes.

    What is World Book Night?

    I don't teach science, but I'm thinking since I teach 5th grade english and I've just started a poetry unit today (NEVER taught poetry before) that I just might teach them how to write haikus and have them write a haiku about the earth. :)

    The creative thoughts are flowing right now....
