Round 1 Wrap Up

Summer Throwdown Round 1

By the numbers....

31 days...
90 Librarians read 1656 books
75 Teachers read 1215.25 books
2,871.25 Books read (sort of...actually more because of our point system!)

We never dreamed that #summerthrowdown would take off like this!  I'd like to give a standing ovation to everyone who participated (a la Auggie's in R.J. Palaccio's Wonder) because each and every one of you is amazing!

Thank you for participating and READING!

We had participants from not only across the United States but around the world with readers in China, Hong Kong, and Indonesia.  We didn't quite cover all 50 states, but hey...there's always Round 2!

I can't wait to see the numbers for ROUND 2!  Can we read even more???

Speaking of Round 2, read all about it here on my blog.  Visit my cohorts' blogs for their take on Round 1/Round 2 of summer throwdown: Brian, Jillian, Kathy

One last thought...I am very proud to be part of
A very special thanks to Jarrett J. Krosoczka for putting his amazing artwork on a t-shirt for us, supporting us, and even blogging about our team enthusiasm!

  1. It really is! The power of reading!

  2. Just tweeted out round 2. Bummer that I go back to school on Thursday! That will cut down on my reading. I was able to include 3-4 audiobooks in round one, so I'll have to continue that for my commute.

  3. Thank you for tweeting about it! You're starting back early! Year round? Audio books will be great and any contribution you make to #summerthrowdown, no matter which team, is greatly appreciated!
